We are very pleased to welcome Daniel Schlup as a new member of our board of directors (VR) at baseVISION. With his many years of experience in crisis management and leadership, he brings valuable expertise that will make our company even more resilient. In a short interview, he tells us about his motivation and perspectives.
Daniel, what motivated you to take on the role of a board member at an IT company?
Daniel: The decision to become a member of the board of directors of an IT company is not made lightly. For me, it was a combination of personal connection and trust in the upcoming collaboration. A particularly decisive factor was a meeting with the baseVISION team during a visit to the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The direct, personal contact and the trust in the forthcoming collaboration showed me that I can truly make a difference here. I am convinced that my experience and knowledge will further help the company, and that is exactly what motivated me to take on this responsibility.
What experiences from your time at SBB in the crisis management team can you bring to baseVISION?
Daniel: Working in the crisis management team at SBB is hardly directly comparable to the role at baseVISION. SBB is a federally affiliated company with over 33,000 employees, while baseVISION operates as an IT service provider in a different industry with a significantly smaller team. Nevertheless, I can effectively apply my experiences from emergency and crisis management as well as my new responsibility for Business Continuity Management (BCM) at SBB. Crisis management means being prepared for the unexpected and remaining capable of action quickly – skills that are also valuable in an IT company. Additionally, as a former professional officer, I bring extensive leadership experience that can be advantageous in stressful and unexpected situations.
What perspectives do you want to bring as a board member at baseVISION?
Daniel: As a member of the board of directors, I want to contribute my leadership and crisis experience, the handling of exceptional situations, and a certain seniority. With my composure and experience from various crisis scenarios, I can help make the company strategically more resilient and specifically prepared for challenges.
What personally motivates you to take responsibility and make decisions in times of crisis?
Daniel: Over the years, I have found that I function well in crisis situations. It is easy for me to focus on the essentials and find quick, practical solutions. The responsibility is not a burden for me, but a joy – especially when I see how the team overcomes challenges together. Because one thing is clear: Alone you achieve little, but in a team, you can achieve almost anything.
We look forward to working with Daniel Schlup and are convinced that he will enrich our company on the path to the future.
