For over 100 years, V-ZUG has been committed to making everyday life easier with innovative and high-quality household appliances. V-ZUG is the brand for those who expect more than just the essentials from their household appliances. Whether cooking, washing, or cleaning. As the Swiss market leader, V-ZUG embodies Swiss values and makes them accessible to people worldwide with simple, individual solutions. Solutions that inspire and bring joy for a lifetime.
Initial situation
In the last 10 years, V-ZUG’s 1500 employees worked with conventional notebooks and desktops based on Windows 7. The company decided to switch to Windows 10 for several reasons: many devices needed to be replaced, and the new hardware no longer supported Windows 7; the mobility and security requirements for mobile technicians and internal employees could not be met with Windows 7. Additionally, the internal deployment system no longer met the modern and advanced requirements of Windows 10. Enrolling many devices in the shortest possible time was another challenge. For these reasons, V-ZUG’s IT department wanted to implement a modern and innovative workplace that simultaneously protects against cybersecurity threats.
At the beginning of the project, various solution approaches were discussed, tested, and compared. One of them was the modern managed workplace from baseVISION, based on Microsoft Cloud technologies like Intune and Office 365. This solution enables V-ZUG to roll out Windows 10 quickly and easily on all devices, while Azure Serverless Computing eliminates the need for an in-house IT infrastructure. Furthermore, the Azure infrastructure protects the company from security threats. During the proof-of-concept phase, the key functionalities were reviewed and released for the production environment. Subsequently, baseVISION began transforming V-ZUG’s IT infrastructure.
The Vision
- Windows 10 based workplaces
- As simple as possible
- Time and cost savings
- Use integrated security solutions to ensure compatibility with Windows as a Service.

Modern device enrollment & management
baseVISION’s solution offered V-ZUG an alternative to traditional enrollment via device staging. End-users registered their devices independently using Syntaro’s Advanced AutoPilot solution. This guides the user through the configuration with the help of training videos. After registration, the device is automatically enrolled in Microsoft Intune, where corporate policies are enforced. With the new cloud-based management infrastructure, V-ZUG can manage its devices from anywhere – saving not only time but also money. With this, baseVISION achieved the company’s first three goals in one step and rolled out Windows 10 easily, time- and cost-effectively on all devices worldwide.

Modern application deployment with Syntaro Application Management based on a scalable Azure Cloud infrastructure
baseVISION knows from experience that while Microsoft Intune can easily use modern applications, it is unsuitable for many business applications. baseVISION’s passion lies in the modern workplace, and for this reason, we developed Syntaro Application Management as an add-on for Intune. With this add-on, limitations such as single setup files and the restriction to MSI setups are removed. Syntaro Application Management enables the unrestricted use of all business applications and includes features for bandwidth optimization – this also saves V-ZUG time and money.
Multilayered security framework to protect data
One project goal was to increase the overall workplace security of V-ZUG. The combination of the integrated Windows Defender Suite and Microsoft Security Essentials ensures a future-proof workplace. The addition of Microsoft Enterprise Mobility+Security (EMS) further secures cloud and on-premise resources through Conditional Access and Multi-Factor Authentication.
Innovative and intelligent rollout
Every Windows 10 rollout involves a lot of bureaucracy for the rollout team: checklists and inventory information are part of it. baseVISION implemented an Azure-based migration database that provides a central data source for all migration requirements. The rollout manager could monitor the status of the migration in real-time via a Power BI dashboard and export data to create management reports. The database also offered features for planning migration waves and filling out checklists in a PowerApp-based application. This extension drastically reduced the paper and administrative effort for collecting data from the various checklists and creating management reports.

Summary
In summary, it can be said that all of V-ZUG’s goals were achieved and even exceeded. The Syntaro Application Management Module and Advanced AutoPilot, in combination with Microsoft Cloud technologies, enabled a seamless rollout of Windows 10 on 1,500 devices, as end users were able to configure their devices themselves. Both the mobile technicians and internal employees could work without technical restrictions while meeting corporate and security requirements. Additional security and privacy features were provided by baseVISION using Microsoft EMS and the Windows Defender Suite. The Azure-based migration database offered V-ZUG an additional advantage: the rollout manager could monitor the status of the migration in real-time and without paperwork, as all relevant information was available via the Power BI dashboard. This dashboard could also generate reports for management. The transition of V-ZUG to a modern workplace based on Microsoft Office 365 was a very successful project for both baseVISION and V-ZUG.
