Case Study Fracht AG

Client: Fracht AG

The migration to the cloud enabled Fracht AG to standardize and automate central processes, significantly increasing efficiency across the company. At the same time, hardware and software security were elevated to a higher level, creating a safer and more reliable IT environment. The introduction of OneDrive and SharePoint has improved flexibility and mobility, benefiting both IT teams and end users in their daily work. The devices are now fully up to date, and the entire environment is optimized for current and future requirements.

Through this transformation, Fracht AG not only modernized its IT infrastructure but also created a solid foundation for sustainable digital growth and future-proof operations.

The starting point: A proven infrastructure with development potential

At the start of the project, Fracht AG had a functioning IT infrastructure that had grown and proven itself over the years. The devices were mostly managed with ManageEngine, while initial tests with Microsoft Intune had already been conducted.

The data was stored locally on the internal server infrastructure, which had ensured a stable and controlled environment in the past. The installation of applications was mostly done manually, allowing flexibility in handling individual requirements.

In terms of security, only a few restrictions had been defined so far. This starting point offered clear potential for improvement, particularly regarding standardization, automation, and modern protection mechanisms. This is exactly where the collaboration with baseVISION began.

The vision: Modernize through the cloud

Fracht AG, together with baseVISION, embarked on the journey to fundamentally modernize its IT landscape with a clear focus on standardization, security, and user-friendliness. The vision: Modernize through the cloud.

  • The focus is on cleaning up historically grown configurations and introducing a unified naming concept. This creates the basis for a structured and future-proof environment.
  • A planned milestone is the migration of data and applications to the cloud. The introduction of SharePoint and OneDrive is intended not only to simplify collaboration but also to strengthen the mobility and flexibility of employees.
  • New standards are also planned in the area of security: Security Baselines for hardware and software, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and Windows Hello for Business are intended to form a robust security foundation in the future.
  • Software distribution is to be automated and simplified through the use of PSADT and Patch My PC Cloud. The planned introduction of Windows Autopatch will reduce manual effort and increase the currency of the systems.
  • For support, the introduction of a reliable and secure remote support solution with TeamViewer Tensor is planned, a solution that benefits both IT teams and end users.

The transformation: From concept to competence

The implementation of the vision was carried out in several stages, practical, learning-oriented, and always in close collaboration between baseVISION and Fracht AG.

Workshop and Scope Definition

The kickoff was an on-site workshop where the current starting situation was jointly analyzed and the project scope defined. This created a solid foundation for the next steps.

Concept Phase

In the concept phase, tailored solutions for the customer environment were developed and discussed together. For Fracht AG, many things were new or different from what they were used to. The engagement with the possibilities of the Microsoft Cloud was correspondingly committed and intensive. Much was read, discussed, and questioned. This learning process promoted understanding of the new environment and laid the foundation for successful implementation.

Implementation and Testing

The implementation was carried out according to the concept, initially with a pilot group to gather initial experiences and make necessary adjustments. Despite individual hurdles and the sometimes complex cloud approach, the know-how grew continuously.

Rollout and Knowledge Building

The rollout was carried out in stages across the various locations. Through daily work with and around Microsoft Intune, Fracht AG developed a solid and practical knowledge of the Microsoft Cloud world. The project was implemented not only technically but also culturally anchored.

The transformation was not only a technical change but also a joint learning process that enabled Fracht AG to actively shape its IT and position it for the future.

«Die Zusammenarbeit mit baseVISION war durchgehend professionell und vertrauensvoll. Die Migration unserer Endgeräte auf Windows 11 wurde termingerecht und reibungslos umgesetzt. Zudem sind wir inzwischen mit dem Intune-Portal so vertraut, dass wir viele Einstellungen eigenständig vornehmen können. Wir empfehlen baseVISION als zuverlässigen und kompetenten Dienstleister weiter.»
